Where this idea came from...

Dogs of the Revolution came to me when I was thinking about the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. I have a degree in History, and this idea combined my first love of art with my passion of history. I was brainstorming how to get children interested in the American Revolution and how the county was made. Who was involved in the making of the country. Big names we all know and the little names no one has heard of that played a role in the Revolution. Thankfully my own children are currently learning about the American Revolution in their social studios classes at school, 5th & 8th grade, respectively. They have been coming home and teaching me about figures I hadn't heard of like Crispis Attucks and then 2 other riders that rode with Paul Revere. Once I had my list of people (which continues to grow) I then had to really think on each Revolutionist and what kind of dog they could be. What did they look like, their size, what are their traits, what are they known for? This part was so fun. I admit I did change dogs a few times! There are so many choices! But in the end I feeel pretty good about my choices. So that's how it began and how it's going. I am adding new dogs all the time! And if you have any suggestions, please let me know!
