History but with dogs.
An original illustrated series of coloring books celebrating America's founding through our most loyal companions. Pairing dog breeds with key figures of the American Revolution, based on documented traits, roles, and symbolism.

What is this project?
Dogs of the Revolution began as I was thinking about the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. With a degree in history and a lifelong love of art, I started wondering how I could bring the two together in a way that would engage children with the American Revolution — not just the well-known names, but the lesser-known figures who also shaped the nation.
At the same time, my own children were studying the Revolution in school — in 5th and 8th grade — and coming home with stories about people I hadn’t thought about in years, like Crispus Attucks and the riders who rode alongside Paul Revere. Their excitement became part of the inspiration.
Once I began building my growing list of revolutionary figures, the creative challenge began: what kind of dog would each person be? What traits defined them? What was their temperament, their stature, their legacy? I changed a few breeds along the way — there are so many good possibilities — but each pairing was chosen thoughtfully, blending history with symbolism and a bit of artistic imagination.
The project continues to grow, with new dogs added regularly. And if you have a suggestion, I’d love to hear it.
Why dogs?
Dogs are often thought of as loyal, brave, steadfast, intelligent, and great companions to humans. Each dog was carefully considered for their revolutionary figure. The breed needed to match the character & legacy of the revolutionist. This projects invites all to consider history from a fresh & imaginative presepective.
